Description
Roman House is a lodge that has been converted into a house, built around 1820 and extended in the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof, which has been altered to a gable on the left side due to the extension. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the left bay being a late 19th-century addition that is slightly set back from the main structure.
The entrance has a doorway with a panelled door and a panelled reveal, framed by a pilastered doorcase that is topped with an open modillion pediment. To the left of the doorway are two glazing bar sash windows, with the far left window being smaller. Above, there are three smaller sash windows that match those below.
On the right side of the building, there is a large, recessed panel with a semi-circular arch that is blind, containing a single semi-circular arched glazing bar sash with radiating glazing bars at the top. To the left of this panel is a small 20th-century casement window. Above, there is a single small glazing bar sash and to the left, a small fixed light from the 20th century.
