Description

The balustrade to the garden front of Haverholme Priory, located in Haverholme Park, was built in 1835 by H. E. Kendall. It features a combination of cast iron and limestone ashlar. The design includes a pair of low cast iron gates with slender, tapering moulded verticals and Tudor arched pierced panels. These gates are flanked by square facetted styles and matching cast iron side panels. On either side of the gates, there are four long bays of limestone ashlar screen walls, which contain pierced Tudor arched panels with sunk spandrels. These walls are separated by octagonal piers that have moulded and chamfered tops. At both ends, the walls extend into octagonal bays with latticed ashlar bases and large single bay returns to octagonal piers.
