Description

The County Forge is a house, shoeing bay, and forge built in the Gothic style, dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick, which is colorwashed, with some areas rendered, and features slate roofs that are hipped and conical with overhanging eaves. The building has two circular chimney stacks at the apex and a single square ridge stack, all of which have top bands.

The layout consists of two circular units connected by a hipped rectangular block, creating a single-storey front that is irregular with eight bays. On the left side, there is a planked door flanked by three-light plain casement windows. To the right, there are two 20th-century two-light casements, double planked doors with plain overlights, a two-light casement with Gothic traceried Tudor arched head, another planked door, and two similar windows.
