Description
Nos 51 and 53 Northgate are stone cottages built in the mid-19th century in a Gothic style, featuring a tiled roof. The front facade has seven windows that alternate between two-light and one-light designs, all with stone mullions and segmental arches. There are two coats of arms in stone, one belonging to the Carre family, and a smaller coat, along with a date stone from 1719, which have been inserted into the building. The cottages have two modern doors, while the central passage door, which has a moulded segmental head, is part of an earlier structure. On the ground floor, there are two two-light windows on the left and two windows with three replaced lights on the right, both framed in modern cement surrounds.
