Description

The Marquis of Granby Public House is a public house dating from around 1700, with late 18th-century alterations and further modifications made around 1860. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and brick, featuring ashlar dressings, with slate and pantile roofs. The building has two storeys and is topped with two ashlar gable stacks, each having a double octagonal shaft, along with four brick gable stacks.

The street-facing front has a central doorway that features a moulded four-centred arch and a plank door. On either side of the door are two three-light chamfered mullion windows, each with segmental hoods and a linking band. Above, there is an oriel window with three central lights, flanked by single light windows, with the left window being square. Beyond this, there are additional single three-light chamfered mullion windows. At the top, a central gable contains a single light window.

The rear facades are made of brick and display irregular fenestration. To the south, there is a single-storey range that includes a 20th-century casement, a garage door, a stable door, and a small fixed light, followed by another garage door, a window, and another stable door. Further along, there is a stable door with flanking garage doors.
