Description
The Royal Oak is a public house located on Main Street in Scopwick, dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring brick and ashlar dressings. The building has a steeply pitched pantile roof with ashlar coped gables, a single ridge, and two gable brick stacks. The eaves are dentilated in brick, and there is a flush ashlar plinth with quoins.
The Royal Oak has a lobby-entry plan and is two storeys high with four bays. The off-centre doorway has a four-panel door beneath a wooden lintel and is flanked by two three-light glazing bar sliding sash windows. To the left of the doorway, there is a single similar window in a partially blocked doorway. All windows feature ashlar wedge lintels with keystones. On the upper floor, there are three similar three-light windows, along with a two-light window situated above the doorway.
