Description
22 and 23 Eastgate are two houses built in the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid 19th century and mid 20th century. The buildings are constructed from coursed squared stone with a brick front and have a pantile roof featuring two brick gable stacks. The gables are topped with stone and concrete coping.
They stand two storeys tall, plus attics, and consist of two bays. The west front has a pair of doorcases, although the one on the left has been altered to a window. To the left of the doorcases is a large glazing bar window with a pilaster surround, while to the right is a 20th-century shop window. Above these, there are two mid-19th-century square wooden bay windows with 19th and 20th-century casements. Above again, there are two segment-headed dormers with casements. Each gable features an off-centre segment-headed window. The interior has not been inspected.
