Description

The close wall between Number 16A Minster Yard and The Deanery is a historic structure dating from 1316 to 1321, with restorations from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is built of dressed stone and features an 18th-century brick plinth. The wall has renewed crenellated coping over an off-centre passageway, while the rest of the wall is topped with pantile coping. The south side of the wall is L-shaped and includes a round-headed opening leading to the passageway, along with a buttress that has three set-offs. The wall stands approximately 4 meters high and stretches about 150 meters long, with the southern section measuring around 50 meters and featuring stepped pantile coping. This structure is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
