Description
This building, located at 10 Steep Hill in Lincoln, is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick that has been whitewashed, topped with a plain tile roof and featuring two gable stacks. The exterior includes a corbelled eaves cornice, a first-floor band to the right of the door, and brick-coped gables. The house has two storeys plus attics and consists of three bays.
The front of the house features a nearly central wooden doorcase with pilasters and an entablature, leading to a part-glazed six-panel door. On either side of the door are unusual square wooden oriel windows, each with a cornice and round-headed glazing bar lights; the left window has triple lights, while the right has double lights. To the left, there is a half-glazed segment-headed doorway that leads to the basement. Above the door, there is a central cross casement window with a rubbed brick head, flanked by single square corniced wooden oriel windows with two-light casements. Above this, there are three segment-headed dormers with 20th-century casements. The interior has not been inspected.
