Description

The stable block at Abbey Farmhouse dates from 1663, with later alterations in the late 18th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of colourwashed red brick and features a pantile roof with decorative eaves and coped gables. The building is two storeys high and has an eight-bay front.

On the right side, there are two large doorways with segmental heads and double plank doors. Beyond these, there is another large doorway with a wooden lintel and double plank doors. To the left, there are two small doorways; the right one has a partially glazed door, while the left has a plank door. There is a glazing bar casement beyond the left doorway, which has a segmental head.

On the left side, there is a large doorway with plank doors and a segmental head, along with two small glazing bar casements above to the right, featuring round heads filled with blind, pointed tracery. To the left, there are two small glazing bar casements, both with wooden lintels, and four small glazing bar windows, all with segmental heads.

Additionally, there is a carriage archway on the right with a segmental head, which has a plaque displaying a coat of arms, an illegible inscription, and the date '1663' inscribed, re-set above the archway to the south.
