Description
The stable block at Hall Farm was built in 1788, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from red brick in Flemish bond, featuring slightly purple headers, raised brick coped tumbled gables, and a pantile roof with a single external gable stack. The building is two storeys high with a four-bay front, which includes a first-floor band and a dog tooth eaves course.
The central entrance consists of a planked door with a four-paned overlight above it. To the left, there is a louvred and glazed opening set in the blocking of a former doorway, followed by a short planked door with a twelve-paned overlight. On the right side, there is a timbered and glazed opening in a wider blocked opening. The first floor features three louvred openings and one blocked opening. All ground floor openings have timber lintels, except for the rightmost opening, which along with the first-floor openings, has brick segmental heads with splayed soldier arches.
On the left-hand gable, flanking the chimney stack, are single semi-circular blocked openings. Above these, iron ties are visible, marked with the letters L M. At the top of the chimney stack, there is an inscribed stone panel that reads "L. Monck 1788". The interior retains its original stable fittings and features a pine butt purlin roof.
