Description
The Church of St. Nicholas is a parish church that is now disused. It features medieval masonry, but all the windows were restored in the 19th century. The building is constructed from banded limestone and ironstone coursed rubble, with ashlar quoins and dressings, stone coped gables, kneelers, and slate roofs. The church includes a nave with a western bellcote and a western porch, as well as a chancel.
The porch has two sets of paired lights and a moulded parapet, with a north door that has a plain chamfered surround and a sacred monogram above it. The medieval roof pitch is visible in the west wall, which is topped by the stub of an earlier bellcote. The existing single bellcote is from the 19th century. The north wall of the nave features single stepped buttresses, a plinth, and two 19th-century lancet windows. The chancel's north wall has a blocked cambered headed light of uncertain date. The 19th-century two-light west window replaces an earlier one. The south wall includes a short lancet in the chancel and two additional lancets in the nave. The reveals of earlier windows can be seen to the left and right of the 19th-century lights. All fittings inside the church date from the 19th century.
