7/40 Sibsey Trader Mill (formerly listed as Sibsey Mill) 3.11.55 I
Tower windmill. 1877 by Saunderson of Louth. Restored 1970 and 1981 by the Department of the Environment. Tarred brick. Ogee cupola with small ball finial. Fan-tail and 6 double sided sails. Dentil and moulded eaves. 5 storeys with decorative wrought iron balcony to the second floor. South side with doorway 6 steps up with plank double door, on the second floor is a cambered arched doorway with part glazed door. The north side with similar doorway and door to the second floor. The west and east sides both with single pivotal casements under cambered arches on each floor. Interior. Internal machinery in full working order. Elevator to hurst which terminates in a hopper on the first floor. Spout down to the ground floor. First floor with tentering gear and spouts, machinery also includes bridge tree, governor, spindle with mace head and gimbal bar. Second floor with hopper, vat, quant, runner stone and two pairs of restored grey stones and single pair of French stones. Great spur wheel with upright shaft all of iron, this drives through mortice stone nuts. Fifth floor with iron sack hoist and chain. Brake wheel, wallower, brake and brake lever all of iron.
