Description

Church House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, remodelled in the early 19th century. It is built of stucco and colourwashed red brick, with a hipped slate roof and two lateral and one ridge red brick stacks. A moulded wooden eaves band runs along the top of the house and a band defines the first floor. The house has two storeys and four bays. The bay to the right is a 19th-century addition, slightly set back, and the bay second from the left is a 19th-century two-storey bowed front. The front door has a panelled door with fluted surrounds and patera, with glazing bar marginal and overlights above. To the right of the doorway are two tripartite glazing bar sash windows, and to the left a single similar sash. Above these are four glazing bar sashes. The doorways and windows of the first three bays have moulded architraves. Inside, a 19th-century open well staircase features stick balusters. A 19th-century archway leads to the hall, and doorways throughout have fluted surrounds and patera.
