Description
Monks Elder Cottage is a 17th-century cottage that has been altered and extended in the 20th century. It features mud and stud construction with whitewashed rendered walls and a pantile roof that has a single brick ridge stack. The cottage has a lobby entry plan and is a single storey with attics. The front has four bays, with an off-centre planked door that is covered by a 20th-century gable porch. To the left of the door is a single 20th-century glazing bar window, and to the right are two more 20th-century glazing bar windows. The roof includes three raking dormers with glazing bar lights and weatherboarded cheeks. Inside, the cottage retains jowled posts, straight braces, and stop-chamfered beams with run-out stops.
