Description
The Ship Inn Hotel is a posting house that has been converted into a hotel, dating from the early 19th century with some 20th-century alterations. It is built of colourwashed brick, with some areas of render and painted stucco dressings. The roof is slate, featuring stone-coped gables and moulded wooden eaves.
The building has a three-storey, three-bay front with a colourwashed rendered plinth. In the center, there is a carriage archway with a basket arch, a stucco lintel that has a raised keystone, and a 20th-century long overlight with glazing bars. This central feature is flanked by single doors with glazing bars. On either side of the carriage archway, there are single glazing bar sash windows, and above, there are three three-light glazing bar sashes with segmental heads, along with three smaller glazing bar sashes above. All the windows are topped with stucco wedge lintels.
