Description

This is an 18th-century cottage with a hand pump, altered in the 20th century. The cottage is built with a timber frame, now encased in red brick and colourwashed brick. The roof is thatched and covered in pantiles, with overhanging eaves and gable stacks. It is a single-story building with an attic, originally with four bays. A 20th-century gabled porch, constructed of wood and brick and partially glazed, is located to the left of the front entrance. To the right of the porch are two three-light casement windows; a single three-light casement is to the left, all with central fixed glazing bars flanked by single narrow casements and segmental heads. A hand pump sits between the windows on the right side, featuring a painted wooden rectangular case, a long iron handle facing north, and a small spout facing east. A single gabled dormer window is positioned above the roofline, featuring ornate bargeboards and a two-light casement. The return walls are constructed of 18th-century brick which were raised in the 20th century and contain 20th-century windows.
