Description
The Thatched Cottage is a late 18th-century cottage located on Gravel Pit Lane in High Toynton. It features a colourwashed nud and stud construction, with some areas of colourwashed brick, and is topped with a thatched roof that is half hipped to the west and hipped to the east, supported by two ridge stacks. The cottage is a single storey with an attic and has a brick plinth.
The south side has five bays, with a doorway on the right that has an eyebrow and a thatched hood, leading to a plank door. This doorway is flanked by two single two-light casements. To the left of the doorway, there is a two-light sliding sash window, followed by another doorway with a plank door. The west return wall has a single two-light sliding sash window, with another two-light sliding sash above it. The north front has three bays, featuring a two-light sliding sash window to the left and two two-light sliding sashes set closely together to the right.
