Description

The Church of All Saints is a parish church dating from the 15th century, with restorations in 1780 and remodels in 1804 and the 20th century. It is constructed from green sandstone rubble blocks, limestone ashlar, some red brick, render, and colourwash. The church features a slate roof with bargeboards and a west rectangular bell turret topped with an ogee lead-covered cupola and a weathervane.

The west front is flanked by two large lean-to buttresses and has a west doorway with a semi-circular head, a traceried fanlight, and a double panelled door. The north side of the nave includes a single window with a semi-circular head and Y tracery. The chancel has two large 20th-century brick buttresses flanking a blocked window with a segmental head. The east end of the chancel features a 15th-century pointed window with 19th-century Y tracery, flanked by diagonal two-stage buttresses. The south side of the chancel has a brick-patched opening to the east.

Inside, the nave has a single large window with a semi-circular head, Y tracery, a large keystone, and imposts. The interior includes a rectangular aumbry in the north wall, a single large blocked rectangular north opening, and two large blocked rectangular south openings in the chancel. There are eight painted box pews with fielded panelling and hinged doors, a polygonal pulpit with a reading desk and lectern that is integral with the southeast pew and painted grey, a 18th-century hatchment, an 18th-century altar rail that has been remodelled and painted in the 20th century, 19th-century ceilings, and a 20th-century altar.
