Description

The Cemetery Chapel, built in 1888, is constructed from coursed blue lias rubble with limestone ashlar dressings. It features slate roofs adorned with decorative red ridge tiles, stone coped gables, and cross finials. The chapel includes a nave with a north-west spirelet, a south vestry-store room, and a small chancel. An ashlar dressed plinth encircles the entire building. A moulded string course runs beneath the west window, which has a pointed head, three cusped lights, decorated tracery, a hood mould, and label stops. Above this, a steep gable rises with a cusped oculus.

On the north-west side, a diagonal buttress leads to an octagonal ashlar turret, featuring eight pointed, cusped, narrow openings, a spirelet, and a finial. The north side has three bays, with the central bay projecting slightly and having a steep gable. A large central pointed doorway, flanked by single pointed, cusped windows, features ashlar quoins, a hood mould with label stops, and double plank doors. Above the doorway is a shield inscribed with "1888".

The east end has a single pointed window with a trefoiled head and a trefoiled mouchette above it. The south side of the chancel contains a single cusped lancet. The east front of the south vestry features a large triangular-headed doorway with a chamfered surround and triple plank doors. The south side has a curved triangular window with cusping. The west end of the vestry includes a large triangular-headed doorway with a chamfered surround, a hood mould, foliate label stops, and a triple plank door, with a plate trefoil in the gable above. The south side of the nave also has a single cusped lancet.
