Description
Nos. 26 and 28 on Queen Street are two houses built around 1825, with 20th-century alterations. They feature a chequered pattern of red and paler red brick, complemented by painted stucco dressings. The roof is made of concrete tiles with wooden eaves, and there is a single ridge stack along with two gable stacks.
The houses are two storeys tall with a five-bay front. A central carriage archway has a basket arch design, with a lintel that includes imposts, voussoirs, and a raised keystone, leading to double plank doors. On either side of the carriage arch, there are single doorways, each framed by Doric columns, an entablature, and a moulded cornice. The left doorway features an overlight and a partially glazed door, while the right doorway has a traceried overlight and a panelled door.
Beyond each doorway, there is a single window, both of which are glazing bar sashes, with three additional glazing bar sashes located above. All windows have voussoired wedge lintels and raised keystones.
