Description
44 and 46 Wide Bargate are houses that have been converted into two shops. They were built in the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The buildings are constructed of painted brick and feature a plain tile roof with two tall gable stacks and brick-coped gables.
The exterior consists of two storeys plus attics, with a four-bay front arranged in a 2:2 pattern. There is a corbelled brick eaves course. The ground floor has two 20th-century shop fronts. On the first floor, there are four plain sash windows with segmental heads and narrow keystones. In the roof, there is a gabled dormer on the left with a two-light casement, and on the right, a 20th-century top-hung casement in a flat-roofed dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
