Description

40 and 42 Wide Bargate are houses that have been converted into a shop. They date from the early 18th century and have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior features painted stucco, a slate roof, brick coped gables, and a single gable stack.

The building is two storeys high with attics and has a four-bay front that includes a moulded fascia. The shop front is from the 20th century and has plain console brackets supporting the fascia and a blind box. On the first floor, there are four plain sash windows with flat heads and unmoulded stucco keystones. The attic features two gabled dormers, each with plain sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
