Description
The Red Cow is a public house with gate piers, built in the mid-18th century and altered in the 19th century. It features red brick in Flemish bond and has a plain tiled roof with coped gables and two gable stacks.
The building is two storeys plus attics and has a five-bay front. It includes a first-floor band and a dentilled wooden eaves cornice. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a plain overlight, surrounded by a door surround with narrow pilasters and a pedimented, panelled reveal. This entrance is flanked by pairs of plain sash windows. On the first floor, there are five plain sash windows, all of which have cambered brick heads with stucco keystones. The roof features three gabled dormers with glazing bar sash windows and lead roofs.
To the right of the building, there is a low brick wall with a cast-iron gate pier, and a matching gate pier opposite. These gate piers display the three crowns of Boston town. The interior has not been inspected.
