Description

This is an early 19th century shop located on Wormgate in Boston. The building is constructed of red/brown brick, with a painted brick front, and features a hipped roof covered with plain tiles to the front and pantiles to the rear, topped by a single ridge stack.

It is a corner shop with a carved corner to both the wall and the roof. The exterior is three storeys high and has a two-bay front, punctuated by ogee cast-iron guttering with lions' masks. A half-glazed door, with a blanked-off overlight and plain pilasters, occupies the corner. To the right of the door is a full-width shop window with a glazing bar sash and a further pilaster. A rendered stall riser sits beneath the window. Three scrolled brackets project from the pilasters, supporting the cornice, which itself is curved around the corner. A recessed panel on the corner, extending the full height of the building, contains a fixed glazing bar window on the first floor. To the right of this, a glazing bar sash window with a cambered head is positioned on the second floor, and above that, a smaller similar window. The return to Colley Street features further glazing bar sashes with cambered brick heads, alongside a sloping rear lean-to. The interior remains uninspected.
