Description

A terrace of nine houses built in the early 19th century, with minor alterations in the 20th century. The houses are constructed of gault brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with concrete tile roofs to all but number 4, which retains its original Welsh slate roof. There are nine ridge stacks, and the terrace has a curved form with hips at each end.

The exterior is two storeys plus basements, with a 19-bay front. Each house originally had a single door and window to the ground floor, and two windows to the first floor, except for number 1, which has two ground floor windows. Originally, each house had a six-panel door leading up four steps, with a bordered overlight set in a moulded surround featuring half-engaged fluted columns and dentil detailing. This design remains for most properties, although number 8 now has a glazed door and number 6 has a half-glazed door, both of 20th-century design. Windows are generally margin-light glazing bar sashes. However, number 1 has glazing bar sashes, number 2 has plain sashes, number 6 has casements to the first floor, number 8 has a margin-light sash to the ground floor, and number 9 has a plain sash to the ground floor. All windows are set within splayed, painted cambered brick arches. A new casement window has been inserted to the right of the doorway of number 1. Basement windows, located beneath a broad ground floor sill, are glazing bar sashes; number 7 has a widened 20th-century basement opening.

The interiors retain stick baluster staircases and some panelled doors.
