Description

This is a late 18th-century house, later altered in the 20th century and now used as a shop. It is constructed of white-painted brick in English bond, with a slate roof and a reduced gable stack. One gable has been raised. The front of the house has three bays and features a 20th-century shop front. A 5-panel door, dating from the early 19th century, is located to the right, with a plain overlight. The door is surrounded by carved pilasters and a moulded hood supported on scrolled brackets. Above the door is a large segmental-headed opening containing a 20th-century three-light casement, and to the right, a small plain sash window. The first floor has three divided sash windows set under the eaves. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value alongside Martha’s Vineyard and the Assembly Rooms in the Market Place.
