Description
The Church of St Peter, built in 1898 by J B Everard, is constructed from Charnwood granite rubble with ashlar dressings and features Swithland slate roofs. This Gothic Revival church incorporates Early English and Geometrical motifs. It consists of a nave and chancel combined, a southwest porch, two south chapels with coped gables, a north vestry, and a north aisle. The northwest tower has a saddleback roof and fleche, along with twin bell-openings, cusped oculi in the gables, and a stair turret designed as a buttress. There is a low west narthex with a lean-to roof. The nave has triple cusped lancets set in arched recesses, while the chancel windows feature "Geometrical" tracery, including a three-light east window and spherical triangles on the north and south sides. The church was built as a memorial to Mr and Mrs Breedon Everard.
