Description

These are two houses, originally built as one, dating back to 1583. The original section is timber-framed with a brick and granite plinth, and was extended in 1761 to the east using brick. The entire building is now painted white. The original house has a gable end facing the street and comprises two storeys, constructed using a box frame with angle braces. The infill panels were originally brick but are now plastered and painted white. The gable end features collar and tie beam and queen struts. Later, 19th and 20th century windows were incorporated. The brick extension is two storeys wide, with a three-window front. A central twin ridge stack is present, and the brick eaves are detailed with diagonally-set dentils interrupted by three two-light windows. The ground floor of the extension has horizontally-sliding sash windows with glazing bars, a fixed window with small panes, and two 19th-century doors.
