Description
6 and 8 Apiary Gate are two houses dating from the late 16th to 17th century, which were altered and partly rebuilt in the early 19th century. The front of the second bay and the rear of the left bays feature exposed timber framing with diagonal bracing, while the rest of the structure is rebuilt in colourwashed brick with a whitewashed render and brick infill. There is a rendered stone plinth, and the roof is covered with pantiles, featuring brick chimneys on the left and center, along with a rendered chimney between the right bay. The houses are two storeys tall with a cellar and consist of four bays. The left bay has 19th-century two-light horizontal sliding sash windows. The second bay has a similar window on the first floor, a 20th-century two-light barred wooden casement on the ground floor, and cellar vents. The right side of the range includes 20th-century three-light barred wooden casements on the first floor, a bay window to the left, and a four-pane sash window on the ground floor to the right. There is a blocked door and a 20th-century door between the right bays, both sharing a 20th-century flat wooden hood. The door to No 8 is located in the left gable.
