Description
12 High Street, which includes No 1 Wilton Place, is a mid-19th century building. Its facade is stucco and cement rendered, featuring a high plinth, a rusticated ground floor, and sill bands. The building has wide eaves supported by paired modillions and a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and has two sash windows, along with a door that has moulded cornices on brackets. This structure is a good example of its period. The side elevation of the former No 1 Wilton Place is made of red brick with light headers and has a similar design to the south facade. The building is part of a group that includes No 4, Nos 6 and 8 (The George Hotel), and Nos 10 and 12, along with other nearby properties.
