Description

These are two late 18th-century buildings, number 8 and number 8A, located on the west side of Burton Street. They are constructed of red brick and feature an eaves cornice and a slate roof. The buildings are three storeys high and have four windows each, with sash windows that retain some glazing bars; these windows are topped with gauged flat brick arches. Number 8 has a modern shop front. Number 10 (not separately listed) has a noteworthy early 19th-century wooden doorcase, incorporating a blind traceried rectangular fanlight, a hood supported by consoles, and pilasters. Inside, the staircase has a ramped handrail and plain balusters. The listed buildings of Burton Street, including numbers 24 to 36 (even), form a visually cohesive group of local interest.
