Description
The Crown Inn is a public house located at No. 10 Burton Street. The building consists of two parts: the southern section dates from the late 18th century, while the northern section is from the 19th century. The exterior is made of painted brick and features slate roofs. The southern part has three storeys with three windows; the center window is blank, and the outer first-floor windows have three-light sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor has late 19th-century glazing and includes a small canted bay with a frieze and dentil cornice, although it has modern glazing. The northern part is two storeys high with two windows that are sashes with segmental arches and late 19th-century glazing. The ground floor window is flanked by two smaller sashes. The entrance door features a cornice, pilasters, and a rectangular fanlight. The listed buildings along Burton Street, including Nos 24 to 36 (even), are of local interest and form a group.
