Description

There are two headstones located 10 meters southeast of the south porch at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Burrough on the Hill. They date from 1666 and 1670 and are made of limestone. Both headstones feature scrolled tops and shield-shaped incised panels. The headstone on the left is inscribed with 'Elizabeth Metcalfe Daughter of Charles Metcalfe Departed this life Decemb. Ye 16th. 1666'. The headstone on the right has the inscription 'Jane Metcalfe the Daughter of Charles Metcalfe departed this life Septemb. Ye ... 1670'.
