Description

Cheseldyne House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid 17th century, with the center rebuilt around 1700, and has 19th century alterations. The left gable was rebuilt in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed and squared ironstone and brick, featuring limestone ashlar dressings and slate roofs. It has a first floor band and a single coped gable. The house has a single stone gable stack and single brick ridge and gable stacks. It is two storeys high and has five bays, following an H-plan layout.

The east front features a recessed center with, to the right, an early 19th century ashlar doorcase that has a moulded hood on brackets and a six-panel door. To the left of the door, there are two 20th century cross casements, and to the right, a small 20th century casement. Above the door, there are two similar cross casements and, further right, a small plain sash window. These windows are framed with plain stone architraves. The left gable has a three-light 20th century casement, with a similar smaller casement above it. The right gable features a two-light mullioned cellar opening with a moulded surround, and above it, a 19th century two-light casement with a wooden lintel.

The rear of the house has mainly late 19th and 20th century windows. The return angle to the left shows remnants of a mullioned casement. The north end has, to the left, a three-light mullioned casement with a hood mould, and to the right, a 20th century French window with flanking lights. Above this, there are two 19th century casements. The south end has a lean-to addition on the left and the remains of a mullioned casement on the right, with a 19th and a 20th century casement above.
