Description
Yew Tree House is a cottage located on South Street in Scalford, dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a pantile roof that has replaced the original thatch, along with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and is two stories high with a two-window range.
The entrance is marked by a four-panelled, part-glazed door situated to the right of the center, which has a flat-arched head. To the left on the ground floor, there is a three-light casement window with a wooden lintel, and on the first floor, there are two three-light casement windows, both also with wooden lintels. The eaves of the building have been built up in brick, and the gables are capped with brick.
Inside, the cottage features boxed spine beams and an open fireplace that includes a chamfered bressumer.
