15/189 Mausoleum 450 m south-west of 1.1.68 Belvoir Castle

Mausoleum. 1826-28 by Benjamin and Philip Wyatt. Limestone. Roof not visible behind parapets. Single storey in Norman style. Rectangular with entrance in north-east side. Central round arch with much zig-zag and other ornament. 3 orders of shafts in the jambs. One blind Norman arch right and left, with one order of shafts. These repeat into returns. Interior not inspected but known to have more Norman style masonry of some quality and spectacular altar-tomb to fifth Duchess, 1825, by M.C. Wyatt.
