Description
The sculpture of Juno is located in the Sculpture Garden at Belvoir Castle and dates from around 1680. It was created by the sculptor Caius Gabriel Cibber. The sculpture is made of stone and stands on a square pedestal that features recessed panels, each adorned with high relief carvings of flowers and fruit. The pedestal has a cornice with a dentil course and an egg and dart frieze. The figure of Juno is depicted as a clothed female in a pose that suggests sudden surprise, and at her feet is a peacock, which is the emblem of the Manners family. This sculpture is one of seven statues in the garden.
