Description
The sculpture depicting Summer is located in the Belvoir Castle Sculpture Garden and dates from around 1680. It was created by Caius Gabriel Cibber. The sculpture stands on a square pedestal featuring recessed panels adorned with high relief carvings of fruit and vegetative swags. Above the panels, there is a cornice with a dentil course and an egg and dart frieze. The figure is partly clothed, holding flowers in her left hand and a laurel wreath in her right hand, with an urn at her feet. This sculpture is one of seven statues in the garden.
