Description
Number 21 is a farmhouse located on Wartnaby Road in Ab Kettleby, dated around 1626 and altered and extended around 1800. The building is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a Swithland slate roof with rendered ridge and end stacks. Originally designed in an L-plan, it has since been modified to a T-plan. The farmhouse is two stories high with a two-window range. It has a four-panel door that was originally central but is now positioned to the left of center, framed by pegged wood. Above the door is a worn limestone datestone inscribed with the year 1626. The windows on the first and second floors are three-light casements with segmental-arched heads, except for a two-light window on the ground floor to the left. The eaves are stepped brick. An additional right end bay, added around 1800, is made of red brick in Flemish bond and features a storey band, but has no windows facing the street. To the left of the farmhouse is a single-storey outbuilding made of coursed squared ironstone with a pantile roof. Inside, the farmhouse has boxed spine beams.
