Description

The Ab Kettleby War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, with a later addition for the Second World War. It is made of polished Rubislaw granite and is located within the churchyard, near the north entrance to the church. The memorial features a square-sectioned obelisk atop a plinth with a chamfered top and a single-stepped square base. The main dedicatory inscription on the front (south) face of the plinth reads: "ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS OF AB KETTLEBY IN MEMORY OF (NAMES)." Below this, the base is inscribed: "WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT EUROPEAN WAR 1914 – 1919." Additionally, the plinth includes an inscription for the fallen from the Second World War, which states: "ALSO IN REMEMBRANCE OF (NAMES) WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE SECOND GREAT WAR 1939 – 1945."
