Description

The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage dating to 1769, with extensions added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a hipped slate roof and brick stacks. The building follows a two-unit central staircase plan, originally presenting a three-window front, which has been extended by one bay to the right. The main front of the house faces the garden to the south and features a part-glazed door, formerly central, with a wooden surround including fluted Tuscan pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. There are twelve-pane sash windows with segmental-arched heads to both the ground and first floors. The building includes an ironstone plinth, a brick storey band, and dentilled brick eaves. A rainwater head on the right side is dated 1769. The two-storey extension to the right has a pair of twelve-pane sashes to the ground floor and a tripartite sash to the first floor, all with segmental-arched heads. The interior features an open well staircase with column-on-vase balusters.
