Description

Kimbolton War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1920, with later additions commemorating the Second World War. It is situated on the High Street, just outside the churchyard of St Andrew's Church (a Grade I listed building). The memorial itself comprises a stone cross set upon a large plinth of Ketton limestone, raised on a step. Two stone tablets are incised into the plinth, one on the south face and one on the east, with the inscriptions painted black. The south face tablet reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR/ FOR FREEDOM AND RIGHT. 1914-1919 (29 NAMES)". The tablet on the east face reads: "1939-1945 (5 NAMES)". The memorial is enclosed by a low brick wall and a timber fence.
