Description
Chester House is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks, forming an L-plan. It is two stories tall and has a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a four-panel, part-glazed door with a flat-arched head, a key block, and a large-boarded gabled hood supported by brackets. The ground floor has horned sash windows with flat-arched heads and key blocks. On the first floor, there are three-light windows on the left and right, with a central sliding light above a two-light casement window, all featuring similar flat-arched heads. To the left of the door, there is an ogee-arched foot-scraper niche. A single-storey extension on the left has a pantile roof and includes casement and paired sash windows with wooden lintels. At the rear right, there is a full-height wing with casement windows. Inside, the building has stop-chamfered spine beams.
