Description

Gale House is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of dressed, coursed squared limestone, with a slate roof and stone end stacks. The building has a 2-unit plan, is two storeys and an attic, and features a 3-window front. A central 19th-century horned sash window now occupies the position of the original door, which was formerly accessed by two stone steps and had a flat-arched head. Further 16-pane horned sash windows are present to the ground and first floors, with flat-arched heads to the ground floor windows and stone lintels to the first-floor windows. A storey band runs along the facade, and there are a pair of gabled dormer windows in the attic. The building has stone-coped gables with kneelers. A full-height wing of brick is located to the rear left. The interior has not been inspected.
