Description

Old Farmhouse is a former farmhouse located on Bolton Lane and Harby in Hose. It dates from the early 18th century, with extensions added in the late 18th century and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick in an irregular, mostly stretcher bond, and features pantile roofs along with brick end and ridge stacks.

Originally, it had a two-unit plan with a central staircase, and it stands two storeys high with an attic. The street-facing elevation has been rendered and re-windowed in the 20th century. The garden elevation shows visible brickwork, featuring a 'French' window on the far left with a flat-arched head, a three-light casement window on the ground floor with a cemented head, a similar casement above, and a two-light casement on the first floor to the far left, all with brick lintels. An ironstone plinth with a stepped brick step and cogged brick eaves is present.

To the right of the centre, there is a two-storey extension that likely incorporates a one-storey and attic service building that has been raised to full height, displaying irregular glazing with one, two, and three-light casements. A further one-storey and attic extension, mostly from the 20th century, is located on the far right. Inside, the farmhouse features ogee stop-chamfered spine beams, a dog-leg staircase with a straight string, turned balusters, and square newel posts that run from the ground floor to the attic. The roof has a collar truss with one tier of clasped purlins and old rafters, some of which are partly original.
