Description
Lion House is a house built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, raised in the 19th century and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in English garden wall bond with a pantile roof and brick ridge and end stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and is two stories high with a two-window range. There is a 20th-century door to the left of the center, featuring a wooden lintel. On the ground floor, there are two-light sliding casement windows with chamfered brick sills on either side of the door, and a three-light window to the far right with a central sliding light, all having segmental-arched heads. The first floor has similar two-light windows with wooden lintels. The lower part of the wall below the ground floor windows to the right of the door is made of coursed ironstone rubble. A change in brickwork indicates where the building was raised at the level of the sills of the first-floor windows. The eaves are stepped. The interior has not been inspected. The house is included for its group value.
