Description

The Methodist Chapel, dated 1847, is a non-conformist chapel located on Main Street in Harby. It is constructed of red brick with paler brick headers in Flemish bond and features a hipped slate roof with two bays. The central brick porch has a 20th-century door with a fanlight and a round-arched head. The chapel includes sash windows that also have round-arched heads. There is a plinth with a chamfered grey sandstone top and a moulded sandstone string course at the level of the window arches, with square blocks where it meets the gauged brick heads of the windows, which are carried over the window arches as hood moulds. The eaves are stepped and chamfered. Above the porch, there is a sandstone panel inscribed with "WESLEYAN/METHODIST/CHAPEL/1847." To the left, there is a Sunday school extension dated 1896, which is not of special architectural interest.
