Description
Nos. 23-27 on Chapel Hill are three cottages dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and 20th century. Originally timber framed, the cottages have been underbuilt in brick and rendered, topped with a thatched roof featuring two gables and a pair of red brick ridge stacks. The irregular nine-bay front is single storey plus attics, and includes a pair of planked doors that are covered by 20th-century wooden porches. There are two three-light glazing bar casements, one two-light window, and four single-light casements, two of which are plain and two with glazing bars. The roof features a single five-light glazing bar casement thatched eyebrow dormer. Inside, the cottages retain two bays of full-height crucks along with other parts of the timber frame.
