Description
Nos. 1-4 on Main Street are four cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of red brick with a roof made of Welsh slate, and part of the rear features Swithland slate. The cottages have brick ridge and end stacks, totaling four in all. The rightmost cottage, No. 4, has coped gables.
The buildings are two storeys high and feature five windows. These include two 2-light diamond lattice horizontal sliding sashes, a similar 2-light window with small panes, a 1-light casement, and another 2-light diamond lattice horizontal sliding sash, which has a cambered lintel and a hood mould.
On the ground floor, from left to right, there are a 2-light casement, two plank doors, a 2-light diamond lattice horizontal sliding sash, a plain 2-light sash, three plank doors, and another 2-light diamond lattice horizontal sliding sash. The cambered lintels above these openings also have hood moulds. There are 20th-century single-storey lean-tos at the rear. These cottages are included for their group value.
